Melody Of Memories
So, I am part of this 30-days creative writing challenge and today’s theme is a vintage store. Here is the poem I wrote.

I hear a distinctive and explorative smell:
Rusty metals and musty fabrics,
Old leathers and books,
And the scent of neatly polished furniture with wax.
Looking around,
I see the gold plates and pocket watches,
The busts of Caesar,
Old china wares,
And lovely music boxes.
Music boxes!
What I came for.
Metallic, bronze, golden, silver,
And stainless boxes in different shapes,
With only one looking familiar.
A brown wooden box
With a swan image on it.
Opening the box,
The melody hits, bringing along a sense of déjà vu.
The tune playing in the background,
Laughter fills the air,
Joy all around,
And dancing takes place.
Eyes twinkling with happiness
As they stare into my young ones.
A smile etched on my face,
As it forces one unto mine, just like a disease.
With the stop of the melody
Comes the reality,
And unknown tears streaming down my face,
As the words, “I miss Grandma Ruby,” leave my lips.
