MY TRIGGER

"What knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though."
-J.D. Salinger,

Ever since I saw the prompt for today's challenge, I have been thinking. I have been trying to remember the name of the first two books I read but I just couldn't remember 😅. Weird right?

All I do remember is that one was a mixture of horror, thriller, and mystery and the other was a mixture of romance and betrayal. The second book was read on Wattpad and it was the book that spoke to me.

How did the book speak to me, you will be wondering? Well, the protagonist in the book was facing what I was going through at the time, and then how she solved the problem coupled with the bits of advice given to the protagonist by her friends was valuable.

You see I just came out of secondary school and then awaiting admission. Also, I stayed in the hostel while in secondary school. So, I didn't know a lot of things about relationships and the like. When I read the book, I spoke to my sister about it and even how it was related to what I was going through then.

She agreed to some of the bits of advice given and even gave me some of her own. She also made me promise to always talk to her about anything and everything.

I was so happy that I came across a book that spoke to me that I had to follow the writer on Wattpad and read her other books. Say enough, they didn't speak to me like the first I read.

When I finally had the conviction was when I was journalling one day and what I wrote was so good that I didn't feel like keeping it to myself like I always do. So, I showed my best friend and she was so happy. She even said that she was going through a phase and that she needed to hear the words written to be said to her. She also advised me to post it on social media. That there could be someone out there who needs those same words as she was.

So I did. Well, I shared it with some friends and they all told me the same thing. So ever since then, I decided to always write about things that people can connect to.
